The Delhi Transport Department will soon issue a QR code based smart card for Driving License (DL) and Registration Certificate (RC).
New Delhi. Delhi Transport Department has released a new process to make all the work related to RTO in India easy. Under the same process, the Delhi Transport Department is planning to issue QR based smart cards for Driving License (DL) and Registration Certificate (RC) soon. According to the information received, in the new driving license you will now get features like Quick Response (QR Code) and Near Field Communication (NFC) with an advanced microchip.
What’s special about this new DL?
DL cards used to have a chip earlier, but it was difficult to read the coded information given in this chip. Also, the enforcement wing of Delhi Traffic Police and Transport Department did not have so many chip reader machines. Due to which it was difficult to read the chips. Keeping these problems in mind, this plan has been prepared.
QR will have many benefits
The new QR based smart card will help in connecting and integrating all the information related to driving license and vehicle registration with the vehicle with a web based database. And the stored information can be read easily with this QR code reader. These new cards will be made of polyvinyl chloride or PVC or polycarbonate, due to which they will not deteriorate. The size of the card will also be small enough that it can be easily carried in your pocket.
Know how the new dll will work?
The QR code smart card issued by the Delhi Transport Department is also very good from the point of view of security. As soon as the smart card of the driver / owner is seized, all the information related to the fine of the DL holder will be automatically collected on the vehicle database of the department for 10 years with ease. Not only this, the new DLs will also help the government in maintaining records of disabled drivers, any modifications made in vehicles, emission norms and declaration of person for organ donation.
