New Delhi. A video is becoming increasingly viral on the Internet. This video is grabbing everyone’s attention because of its content. In the video, two youths are sitting in a car and a child cleans the glass of their car. The Fastag sticker on the vehicle comes near the child’s smartwatch. After that the child starts running. Both the youths sitting in the car claim that the child has scanned Fastag from Smartwatch and now he will himself deduct money from Paytm Account.
Paytm clarified-
Paytm clarified that this video is completely fake and there has been no tampering with Fastag technology. The company has issued its statement on Twitter. It said, ‘A video is spreading misinformation about Paytm FASTag which incorrectly shows smartwatch scanning FASTag. As per the NETC (National Electronic Toll Collection) guidelines, FASTag payments can be done only by authorized merchants after multiple rounds of testing. It is completely safe.

What is Fastag?
Fastag has been made mandatory on every vehicle for Electronic Toll Collection. Fastag is tagged under 23 banks of NPCI and NHAI (National Highway Authority of India). The main objective of FASTag is to reduce human interference on toll plazas. Payment is done automatically after the vehicle reaches the toll plaza, but for this it is mandatory to recharge Fastag first. The government had made Fastag mandatory for all commercial and personal four wheelers. This rule came into effect from February 2021.
