The information comes from PIB in a press launch. Apparently, the choice has been taken for apps “that are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, safety of state and public order.”
The record of apps which were banned consists of the likes of TikTok which has been banned in India up to now as nicely. Also within the record are different common apps together with ShareIt, Shein, Parallel Space, and Mi Video Call.

The PIB press launch says that the transfer is supposed to “safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace.”
