PUBG, as most of you may be aware, is one of the most popular online multiplayer games that has been developed by PUBG Corporation. In fact, it was recently revealed that PUBG Mobile has over 100 million monthly active users, which excludes players in China.

Well that’s a huge user base, isn’t it?

But as is usually the case with other popular games, quite often PUBG hits the headlines for bugs/issues plaguing the game and service going down or not working. One such case has now surfaced again.

If you are on an Xbox or PS4 console and are wondering why PUBG (Player Unknown’s Battle Ground) game is down for you, then we have the information you are looking for.

Relax, you are not the only one affected by this outage as the game servers have entered a planned downtime for a couple of hours. What’s appeasing is that PUBG support Twitter handle officially announced this downtime sometime ago, as well as the reason behind it.

Here’s what PUBG support said while informing users regarding this on micro-blogging site Twitter:

Xbox & PS4 Players: Live servers will enter a 2-hour maintenance on May 21 12AM PDT / 9AM CEST. During this time, we will be distributing Survival Title System Beta Season 1 rewards.

Bad news: the maintenance has been extended by 2 hours. Here’s what the company just said:

Another bad news: the maintenance time has been extended for the second time – for another 2 hours.

PUBG servers are down today due to maintenance. Here’s what the company announced about this maintenance a few hours ago:

Xbox & PS4 Players: Live servers will undergo maintenance for 6 hours on July 29 10pm PDT / July 30 7am CEST.

The Deagle, BRDM-2, Ledge Grab, Improved Loot Sorting, and more will be available once maintenance is complete.

Maintenance Schedule:

PDT: July 29 10pm – July 30 4am

CEST: July 30 7am – 1pm

Update 12 (July 30)


While the maintenance is now complete, team PUBG has acknowledged a new issue. Here are the details:

Xbox & PS4 Players: We are aware of an issue where directional input is registered twice while navigating the STORE and CUSTOMIZATION menu. We are working to resolve this issue and will post an update once resolved

Update 13 (July 31)

Another maintenance today, which has now started:

PC Players: Live server maintenance has begun and is expected to last 4 hours. A hotfix will be applied during maintenance to resolve a handful of bugs. Full details can be found at the bottom of our patch notes

Below are some notable bug fixes included in the hotfix:

– Fixed issue at Paradise Resort and Hacienda del Patron which allowed players to get to unintended locations
– Fixed graphics issue with certain settings after unscoping
– Fixed unintended howling wind noise on Erangel

Update 14 (August 01)


PUBG servers are reportedly down at the moment. We’re seeing a string of complaints from users on social media platforms (see here) that say they are getting ‘Servers are too busy at the moment’ notification.

We are keeping a close watch on this, and will update the story as and when we find something newsworthy to share.

Update 15 (August 08)


Live maintenance has begun.

Xbox & PS4 Players: Live server maintenance has begun and is expected to last 1 hour. A hotfix will be applied during maintenance to resolve the Radio Message activation bug, and instances of game crashing caused by weapon charms and rendering issues.

The maintenance was completed on time. Here’s what team PUBG said:

Update 16 (August 12)

Another maintenance today. Here’s what PUBG Support tweeted:

Xbox & PS4 Players: Live servers will undergo maintenance for 12 hours on August 12 7pm PDT / August 13 3am CEST.

Survivor Title Season 2 will end with maintenance.

The maintenance period will be used to further investigate and collect data related to “Lost Connection to Host”

Please be aware that matches played once Survivor Title Season 2 concludes will not grant SP.

SP gains will resume with the new Survival Title Season. More information and a specific timeline will be shared at a later date

Server maintenance schedule for PC players:

PC Players: Live servers will undergo routine maintenance for 4 hours starting Aug 13 5:30pm PDT / Aug 14 2:30am CEST / Aug 14 9:30am KST.

Update 18 (August 13)

Maintenance now complete for Xbox and PS4.

Xbox & PS4 Players: Live server maintenance is now complete. Log in now to claim your Survival Title Season 2 rewards!

Please note that there will be no SP gain until the next Survival Title Season begins. More details on the next season will be shared at a later date

Update 19 (August 14)

Server maintenance for PC players is now live. The following message was shared by PUBG Support on Twitter a couple of hours ago:

PC Players: Live server maintenance has begun and is expected to last 4 hours.

Update 20 (August 21)

Live server maintenance has begun, and is expected to last around 7 hours.

A handful of QoL improvements, Dynamic Weather on Erangel, in-game UI adjustments, bug fixes and more, will be available once maintenance is complete!

Both PUBG and Xbox are down and not working going by reports populating Twitter. Outage tracking service Down detector also conveys the same. PUBG support however hasn’t given a word on the matter yet.

Xbox support says the team’s looking into the login issue that users are currently facing.

Due to player feedback, we’ve reverted footstep sound changes implemented in Update 4.3.

In addition, a bugfix has also been been enforced for better sound effect.

A bug fix has been applied to ensure correct sounds are played based on the surface material type.

Additionally, we’ve made improvements to the ledge grab sound effect based on player feedback.

Server maintenance for PC players that’s scheduled for tomorrow (i.e. Oct 09) will be implemented without any downtime says PUBG support.

Live server maintenance for console players has started and is expected to last for about 4 hours. As stated by PUBG support earlier, during this maintenance, “a hotfix will be applied to revert the footstep and sound changes implemented in Update 4.3.”

Update 44 (Oct 14)

Maintenance for PUBG Mobile has been scheduled for October 15 (i.e. tomorrow) for releasing the update v0.15.0 (which is claimed to be a huge one).

PUBG MOBILE will be taken offline from 00:00:00 to 07:00:00 (UTC) on 15 OCT 2019 for maintenance. Please make sure your device has enough storage space for this update: 0 GB for Android and 1 GB for iOS. The new version will be available starting 16 OCT 2019.

Update 45 (Oct 14)

No live server maintenance for PC players this week, however, the routine stability improvements will be implemented without any downtime.

Bug fixes will be applied for minor visual issues with a handful of skins.
Additionally, a bug fix will be applied to Zombie Mode, resolving an issue causing players to respawn in an incorrect location if the designated location is obstructed by a vehicle.

Two live server maintenances have been scheduled for the implementation of the update v5.3. PC players will undergo a maintenance today for 8 hours, starting 4:30pm PST / 1:30am CET (Dec 18) / 9:30am KST (Dec 18).

On the other hand, for the console players, the same patch will be implemented by a maintenance scheduled tomorrow for 6 hours starting 9pm PST (Dec 18) or 6am CET (Dec 19).

PC Players: Live servers will undergo maintenance for 8 hours on Dec 17 4:30pm PST / Dec 18 1:30am CET / Dec 18 9:30am KST.

A hotfix has been released to manage game crashes. Here’s what PUBG support has to say:

Console Players: We’ve deployed a hotfix to further alleviate instances of game crashes.

Update 78 (Dec 23)

A bugfix update for PC players will be coming today without any downtime.

PC Players: A minor update will be applied without downtime on Dec 23 6pm PST / Dec 24 3am CET / Dec 24 11am KST.

Bug fixes:
– Fixed missing trees in some locations on Vikendi
– Fixed blood splatter on the environment having varying brightness depending on the viewing angle

Update 79 (Dec 24)

The blood splatter and the missing trees issues have been fixed now.


Update 80 (Jan 02)


Maintenance (without any downtime) for PC players has been scheduled for today.

PC Players: A minor update will be applied without downtime on Jan 2 6pm PST / Jan 3 3am CET / Jan 3 11am KST.

Update 81 (Jan 07)

A maintenance with a downtime of 4 hours has been scheduled for PC players for today. With this update, AR spawns on Erangel & Miramar will be increased and the visual glitch of the Tommy Gun skins will be resolved.

PC Players: Live servers will undergo maintenance for 4 hours on Jan 7 4:30pm PST / Jan 8 1:30am CET / Jan 8 9:30am KST to perform general service stabilization.

Thanks to community feedback, we’re increasing AR spawns on Erangel & Miramar by 20% upon completion of maintenance.

We’re also deploying a bug fix with maintenance to resolve a visual issue with skins for the Tommy Gun.

Update 81 (Jan 09)

Sadly, the Tommy Gun skins issue wasn’t fixed with this update.

The previously announced visual fix for Tommy Gun skins was not applied during maintenance and will be resolved in a future update.

Update 82 (Jan 30)

Live server maintenance has begun for console players and is expected to last for 3 hours.

Console Players: Live servers will undergo maintenance for 3 hours on January 29 10PM PST / January 30 7AM CET to apply Update 6.1.
Once complete, the new 2×2 Karakin, Sticky Bombs, Motor Gliders, Dynamic Resolution and more will be available!

PUBG support has confirmed a new maintenance today, which is expected to last 4 hours.

PC Players: Maintenance has now started and is expected to last 4 hours.

Bug Fixes:
– Medieval Helmet skin not visible when worn by female characters
– Players able to prone in shallow water
– Visual issue with certain pants skins
– Inconsistent icon sizes in the lobby

Update 84 (Feb 08)

Pubg seems to be down on console at the moment. We are starting to see some reports about it:

Even the outage alert service Down Detector says PUBG servers are encountering issues (see here and here). The official PUBG live status page (linked below), however, doesn’t show any outage at the moment.

Turns out it’s an issue at Microsoft’s end as Xbox Support has acknowledged the problem on Twitter.

PC players have been notified of an emergency maintenance:

PC Players: Live servers have entered emergency maintenance for an estimated 30 minutes

Scheduled maintenance for console players with a downtime of about 6 hours has been started. Cross Party Play, Team Deathmatch, grenade balance, Karakin loot changes, and more will be available after the update. For complete patch notes, head here.
