New Delhi. For the first time in Demchok, a remote border village of Ladakh, adjacent to the Chinese border, the mobile bell is ringing. Reliance Jio’s new mobile tower at Demchok has brought 4G mobile connectivity to the area. This area was waiting for connectivity for decades. For the first time people are connected to 4G voice and data mobile network. Leh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal inaugurated the Jio Mobile Tower and dedicated 4G services to the people of the border village, Army and ITBP personnel and commuters.

Let us inform that due to heavy snowfall and bad weather in this area, only 6 to 7 months of work is done in a year. Apart from Demchok, 4G services were also inaugurated in the border villages of Chushul, Nyoma Tharuk and Durbuk in Ladakh.

Reliance Jio has 168 mobile towers working in Ladakh. Jio is the only telecom network operator in the Siachen base camp and Zanskar region. Various villages in far flung blocks like Sanku, Taifsuru, Shargol, Nubra, Khalsi, Kharu, Dras, Panamik have already been covered by Jio network. Reliance Jio is also working to expand the network coverage to many other remote villages. Jio has got the responsibility of installing 62 towers under the government USOF, out of which 44 towers have started functioning.

To keep the network strong in this area with extremely difficult conditions, Jio has connected Ladakh with three different fiber routes. These fiber cable routes are Leh-Srinagar, Leh-Manali (Himachal Pradesh) and Leh-Gurez. Two routes are currently operational while Leh Gurez fiber route is expected to be commissioned soon.
