Besides a moody teaser again in February, particulars on Netflix’s new collection The Eddy have been scant. Now, a full trailer sheds a bit extra gentle on the collection, which is directed by La La Land and First Man’s Damien Chazelle.
André Holland stars as Elliot Udo, who left behind his life in New York to start out a jazz membership, The Eddy, in Paris. Unfortunately, the membership’s struggles are solely starting, as Elliot’s enterprise accomplice Farid (Tahar Rahim) could have gotten combined up in some shady dealings. As Elliot tries to maintain issues afloat, the arrival of his daughter Julie (Amandla Stenberg) and ups and downs in his relationship with Maja (Joanna Kulig), who fronts the home band, add to his mounting stress.
The trailer captures a few of that anxiousness because it turns into clear Elliot could have bitten off greater than he can chew, and that what he left behind in New York could also be catching as much as him.
The Eddy is made up of eight episodes, all of which debut on Netflix on May 8.
