Tuca & Bertie season 2 coming to Adult Swim after Netflix cancellation

Tuca & Bertie, canceled all too quickly by Netflix after only one season, is getting a second probability. Adult Swim has picked up the grownup animated sequence from BoJack Horseman co-producer Lisa Hanawalt for a 10-episode second season, which is anticipated to hit the community someday in 2021.

The major voice solid — Tiffany Haddish because the toucan Tuca, Ali Wong because the thrush Bertie, and Steven Yeun as Speckle the robin — will return for season 2. Adult Swim says it has “the option for more” episodes after the second season.

“I’ve been a fan of Adult Swim shows since my teens, so I’m thrilled to bring my beloved fowl to the party and be a new voice for a fresh decade of absurd, irreverent, yet heartwarming adult animation,” Hanawalt mentioned in a information launch.

Tuca & Bertie premiered on Netflix in May 2019 with a 10-episode season. In July, Hanawalt shared the news on Twitter that the present wasn’t being picked up for a second season at Netflix, lamenting that Tuca & Bertie was “everything I wanted it to be: beautiful, funny, fresh, loving, horny, weird, experimental, comforting, and deep,” including that “none of this makes a difference to an algorithm, but it’s important to me and the way I want to continue making art in this world.”

The revival of Tuca & Bertie isn’t the primary time a fan-favorite Netflix sequence has been picked up by one other community. In 2019, Pop TV introduced again One Day at a Time for a fourth season after it had been dropped by Netflix.
